Transmission Auto-Neutral (Manual Return) Request

Description:

This parameter conveys a vehicle system desire to override the operator’s current shift selector request (e.g. Drive, Reverse) and shift the transmission into Neutral. « Manual Return » indicates this parameter has the ability to initiate a transmission shift to Neutral, but it does not provide any capability for the transmission to automatically return to range after Neutral is achieved, or after the request is revoked. See parameter SPN 7696 for transmission status and response to this request.Entry Criteria: The transmission shall only respond to this Auto-Neutral request when the shift selector is in a Non-Neutral position. If the vehicle system and transmission both support SPN 7694 [Transmission Auto-Neutral (Manual Return) Enable Switch], the transmission shall only respond to this Auto-Neutral request when SPN 7694 = 01b. When the transmission receives SPN 7695 = 01b, and all other transmission manufacturer-specific criteria are satisfied (e.g. vehicle is stopped), the transmis
