91 SPN Fault Code

Name:

Accelerator Pedal Position 1

Description:

This parameter is intended for the primary accelerator control in an application. SPN 91 is the calculated ratio of actual position of the operator’s [engine] speed request or [engine] torque request input device (most commonly an accelerator pedal or throttle lever) to the maximum position of the input device. Where redundant means are used to sense the position of the control, SPN 91 shall display the outcome of the manufacturer-defined (i.e. calculated) method to determine the ratio from the redundant inputs. For on-highway vehicles SPN 91 is the operator’s accelerator pedal, in the normal driving position. In addition to signaling the operator’s powertrain demand, SPN 91 also provides anticipatory information to transmission and ASR algorithms about driver intentions. In marine applications, this will typically be the operator’s throttle lever. NOTE— If an application has only one accelerator control, use SPN 91. See SPNs 28, 29 and 974 for additional accelerator pedal position para

91 spn fault code name is Accelerator Pedal Position 1. If you don't take the time to look into 91 spn fault when it arises, it can add up quickly. One small issue like 91 can cause a larger component to become damaged without taking the time to investigate. If you suspect your truck is suffering from one of these issues, look into replacing those small components to save money down the road.

Note: The name and description of 91 code represents text descriptions for faults supported by another coding system and does not necessarily comply with SAE J1939. For a specific engine manufacturer's explanation for codes, please consult the engine's technical manual. See also other spn codes.
