Engine Protection Derate Override Command

Description:

Command signal to override engine protection derate. This is to temporarily override an engine protection derate due to coolant temperature, oil pressure etc. This is for applications such as fire, rescue, and military vehicles to help them get out of emergency situations. The Engine Protection Derate Override Command SPN shall apply to derate applications only (i.e. applications that do not shut the engine down). Vehicles using SPN 1237 Engine Shutdown Override Switch, may still use that SPN to override engine derates as has been industry standard practice. The engine will default to normal derate mode when error or loss of messages occur which will be similar to TSC1 override mode. 00b = Override disabled 01b = Override active 10b = Reserved 11b = Don’t care/take no action Note: When engine receives this command indicating derate override active, an engine will remove a derate due to engine protection and will operate at normal full power.
