Description:

This parameter conveys the reason a device wants the engine running. This SPN is intended to be used in conjunction with Desired Engine Fueling State (SPN 5793). When a device sends Desired Engine Fueling State = « Fueling Desired » either alone or in combination with Engine Start Request = « Start requested, automatic type », then SPN 7789 may be used to convey a reason for why the device desires the engine to run. If more than one reason exists at the same time, the reason with highest importance (as defined by the device sending this parameter) is indicated. 00h = Desired Engine Fueling State (SPN 5793) from this device does not equal 01b 01h = Lubrication distribution in device is incomplete 02h = Engine exhaust is needed as a heat source (i.e. regeneration) 03h = Engine coolant is needed as a heat source 04h = Engine is needed for cooling system operation 05h = Engine is needed for charging the SLI batteries 06h = Engine is needed for charging the hybrid stored energy source 07h =
