Peterbilt 357 8614 SPN Fault Code

Name:

Engine Shutdown Command

Description:

Command to shut down the engine. If this parameter is received as 01b, then the engine should behave as if the key switch was turned off. An example of how this parameter could be used is an ECU would send 01b for this parameter if the operator depressed a start/stop pushbutton switch to shut down the engine. This parameter is different from Desired Engine Fueling State (SPN 5793), which is typically associated with automatic engine stop-start functionality that operates during a drive cycle. SPN 8614 would override such functionality, just like turning off the vehicle key switch. This parameter is also different from Engine Auxiliary Shutdown Switch (SPN 970), which is typically associated with secondary or remote shutdown methods, such as might be used in emergency situations. It is possible that applications would use SPN 8614 as the primary way of shutting down the engine and use SPN 970 as an alternative way of shutting down the engine. 00b = No command to shut down the engine 01b
