Description:

The message checksum is used to verify the signal path from the transmitting device to the receiving device. The message checksum is calculated using the first 7 data bytes, the message counter and the bytes of the message identifier. It is calculated as follows: Message Checksum = ((Byte 1 + Byte 2 + Byte 3 + Byte 4 + Byte 5 + Byte 6 + Byte 7 + Message ID low order byte + Message ID mid low byte + Message ID mid high byte + Message ID high order byte) & FFh) Where Message ID low order byte = Source Address from 29-bit header Message ID mid low byte = PDU Specific (PS) from 29-bit header Message ID mid high byte = PDU Format (PF) from 29-bit header Message ID high order byte = 6 bits of ‘0’ followed by EDP and DP bits from 29-bit header
