9183 SPN Fault Code

Name:

Grade Threshold Indicator 3

Description:

This parameter indicates whether or not the transmitting device has sensed a vehicle grade equal to or exceeding a manufacturer-defined threshold. The manufacturer-defined threshold could be a simple fixed value or a dynamic value that changes based on other inputs or operating conditions. This parameter may be used to indicate positive (uphill) or negative (downhill) grade thresholds based on the transmitter threshold settings. For example, if the transmitter threshold is +3% and it senses an uphill grade of 3%, 01b would be indicated. On an uphill grade of only +2.9%, 00b would be indicated. Conversely, if the transmitter threshold is -3% and it senses a downhill grade of -3%, 01b would be indicated. On a downhill grade of only -2.9%, 00b would be indicated. Grade Threshold Indicator (GTI) parameters may be mixed and matched to accomplish different vehicle functionality: Example 1: A transmitter and receiver could use a single GTI parameter as a simple on/off input.
